How do you make a portrait of someone who is so much more than an image?
This is my attempt.
Lelia White is all about nature and is from one of the pioneer families that settled in Oregon. She developed her own intuition and psychic abilities that enabled her to talk to the spirit world. Her tools were a pendulum and an alphabetic chart. Eventually she discovered she didn’t need the chart. During the past few years I think she was always ‘otherworldly’ connected. She has written several books on her experiences.
How could a traditional portrait do her justice?
My painting feels like her, has her interests in every corner, right down to the hummingbird at her toe and fawn at her head.
